MOM+baby Yoga
Unlike traditional yoga classes, MOM+baby yoga places a strong emphasis on accommodating your postpartum needs. The yoga postures practiced in these classes are usually gentle and modified to accommodate postpartum bodies. The focus is on helping mothers regain strength and flexibility, especially in areas like the core and pelvic floor, which are often weakened during pregnancy and childbirth.
A myofascial massage will be part of the class (beginning or end) and different props will be offered to you as an alternative to keep the yoga postures accessible. We will provide adjustments and depending on the focus of the class some aromatherapy (essential oils from DoTerra) will be introduced. And you can rest assured, your babies will be watched and supervised so you can take a moment for yourself and reconnect with your new body, as well as other new moms. This class is designed for those with babies that are not yet mobile.
What to Bring: Participants are to bring a yoga mat, a blanket or cushion for their baby, any necessary baby supplies (diapers, feeding essentials), and comfortable clothing suitable for gentle movement. Please advise the instructor if you suffer from any allergies or any previous or present injuries.
About Jessie
Jessie has been teaching Gentle Yoga since September 2021. She has completed her 200 hour Basic YTT and also continued her Yoga education with 100 more hours of training in Myofascial Release techniques, Restorative Yoga, Meditation and Yoga NIdra.
These areas of specialty are often carefully weaved into her Yoga classes and workshops. Her classes are a guided tour of your own inner experience. Jessie softly encourages her students to modify poses and find their own edge of flexibility. You will find her classes include props like therapy balls, blankets and blocks, to help support her students and find ease in their practice. Jessie welcomes Yogis of all ages and levels of experience to join her on their mat.
Her goal is to provide Yoga that is accessible for every BODY. Jessie is a Mom of 2 young boys and also co-owns a business with her husband in Durham, Ontario. She enjoys gardening, camping, cooking, playing with her Aussie Shepherd, snowboarding and most of all visiting her mat for her personal Yoga practice.
